I don’t know about you … but when I have a brand NEW hairdo…with my eyelashes all in curl… I just float as the clouds on air do. Personally, I enjoy bein’ a girl.
Ok, so those aren’t exactly MY words, they were sung by Nancy Kwan in that famous scene from the classic movie Flower Drum Girl
… but no one’s ever said it better! After all, what girl CAN’T relate to THAT euphoric feeling – like when your eyebrows are threaded to perfection with an arch that would make Brooke Shields jealous. Enter the White Room Dubai.
For me, my weakness is blow dries. Wonder Woman had her cape. Linus had his blanket. I need a GOOD, sky high, voluminous, oomph-y blow dry to make me feel empowered. When I scrolled through their raving blow dry reviews on instagram, I couldn’t help but notice the running theme of volume, thickness and curls. I really can’t stand flat roots and straight ends but their blow dries seemed to be on POINT. These photos speak for themselves. The BEST part is all blow dries are only 65 aed no matter what your hair length!!! Fleek and Chic (yes…I just said my first fleek. I’m tryin to keep up with the times!!!)
HOWEVER…. as nice as those blowdries are, I thought I’d try something totally different this time!!! Despite how I look, I’m actually quite a stressed, high strung person, so in an attempt to nourish my “aura” or whatever… I popped in for a shoulder and neck massage on a particularly harrowing day. I really found it cute how all the rooms were Disney themed and had names like “Sleeping Beauty” (for massages), “Rapunzel” (for hair) and so forth.
I tried a massage once before, and it was awful. It was a Swedish one that involved a robust Olga type of woman clumsily elbowing my back in the most UNRELAXING manner. The experience scarred me for life but thankfully, my masseuse at The White Room, Hong, was very soothing and gentle yet thorough. She used non icky warm oils that seemed to just glide and pacify, while lightly kneading into my lower back, removing all the built up “knots” I’m not very sure how to describe my state of mind, so, being a visual person, I’ve used images. Here’s a before photo of how i FELT before the salon trip.
AND here’s an after photo. As you can see, the results speak for themselves.
I also got a shellac mani pedi.
Do you know how sometimes at salons, the manicurists remove your cuticles and then..they practically MAIM you with the scissors??? Well, NOT as this salon!!!!!!!!! My manicurists, Lizzy and Ange removed them with tender loving care and dexterity. No pain just gain over here.
The best part was how fast the polish dries. You only have to put it under a cosmic looking blue light and presto …clutz proof polish in a flash!!!!
It’s been ten days or so since I had it and my nails are still sexy, scarlet and gleaming all the way to the tips. I’m also ASTONISHED by how good my toes still look, despite having them SQUISHED and abused in uncomfortable shoes all day. No dents or smudges in the polish at all. Just fresh and vibrant happy feet!
I ONLY have ONE little suggestion to them regarding their TV choices. Depressingly perfect Victoria Secret model fashion shows on mute?? Ain’t nobody got time for dyat!!!! How about something juicy and girly like Gossip Girl or funny like Seinfeld with SUBTITLES so we can actually see what’s going on while still maintaining the peace!!! Just a thought.
The White Room has become my second home. I love how the decor is always pristine and sophisticated, yet warm and inviting.
The staff are always lovely and helpful and I really like browsing through their book shelves too!!
It’s the perfect place for peace, quiet and recharging your batteries!!
