It’s not everyday you get asked to be in a feature for Hello – so when the writers asked if I would be interested, I was like…errr…hello!?!?!?! Of course i would!!!
Jokes aside, I was thrilled to be included in their vibrant “Girls about Town” article. It was all about women from Dubai making waves in the creative industry from different disciplines. There was a great mix of careers from acting to fitness and we were all brought together for our mutual love for fashion and couture. The shoot was styled by Rao Ali Khan who is a celebrity stylist and costume designer from Pakistan. He has worked with huge household names like Ali Zafar and Mahira Khan so I was pretty stoked.
First, we got up bright and early-ish to be primed and polished by Joelle salon in Kempinkski Hotel. I asked for a vintage, Dita Von Teese inspired look with old Hollywood waves.
All of us modeled a collection of couture saris from Lolo’A boutique. The saris were very modern with their digital prints and quirky, unconventional designs. As an artist, I loved the Picasso print sari, modeled by Azaal. It makes such a statement.
Mine was a bold red and black number and I really loved my lace long sleeves. Cropped cholis paired with long sleeves are so very now and regal.
We experimented with a few different looks and shot outside in natural light near a lake. The amber backlight of the sunset was beautiful – like a natural Instagram filter! I could totally get used to this …
We were also asked to express our own individuality through personal style. I chose to wear my illustrated wanderlust skirt with some fun pom pom flats for a summery, boho look.
The last look was our own interpretation of a a classic LBD. It was a really nice theme and so interesting to see the different ways people styled theirs. I went for a lace cocktail dress with pearl heels. The final shoot was at Vii hotel against a gorgeous, lush green backdrop.
Aaaaaand here’s the final double spread!!! It was such an amazing experience! A big shout out to Hello! Magazine Pakistan, Lolo’A boutique, Joelle Salon, Rao Ali Khan and Vii Lounge. Thank you for making me feel like Cindy Crawford for a day!
