Charles and Keith Curates

Social media gets a whole lot of flak … apparently it can make you isolated, shallow and reclusive BUT I disagree. I love how social media can be used for connecting people all over the world and allow you to take part in some amazing opportunities. That’s exactly what happened this month with the Charles and Keith Curates campaign.

The trendy accessories brand launched a special digital campaign. They selected artists from all over the world to document fashion through creativity. The campaign highlighted the works of different individuals from all walks of life who inspired them with their artistry and techniques. Each artist had to interpet the brand artistically in their own way and submit a video and photography to show this. As well as this, each artist had their own store activation in their respective countries where they would hand paint canvas tote bags.

The exciting thing is that this was happening all over the world synonymously. It included countries like Indonesia, Korea, Japan, Kuwait as well as UAE.

I was totally stoked to be representing UAE. The brand gave me total carte blanche when I interpreted their collection. The metallic sandals caught my eye and I thought it would be cool to highlight those in particular – you know how I dig a bit of sparkle.

I kept the illustrations for the campaign quite minimalistic and then let the sparkly shoes speak for themselves by adding some gold and silver flakes. To give the illustrations a modern look, I added splashes of bright colored ink in the background.

The in store activation was really awesome. I can’t tell you how thrilling it was to see my illustration blown up and on the store window. There was an amazing guest list. Tonnes of media personalities and influencers invited – loads of which I follow so it was great to meet them all and have a chat while I customized bags. Here’s a few photos of the event and how it went!

I LOVED the collection’s bohemian pieces and for the store launch, I wore this fringed bag and cute, embellished tie up sandals to get that coachella/pocahontas vibe I constantly crave.
