Date night at Katana Dubai

October 3, 2016

This year is my favorite time of year! When the blistering heat of the city FINALLY subsides and you think to yourself with satisfaction that “winter is coming.” Unlike Game of Thrones, winter over HERE ain’t so sinister. It’s when all the fun, outdoorsy stuff fills up your calendar and you really can enjoy Dubai once again. Ripe Market, jazz nights, shisha, food trucks and of course, fine dining with a view. I discovered a total gem of a restaurant last week – Katana Dubai. The very hip and slick Japanese restaurant is a favorite with celebrities in LA and […]

Burger and Lobster

May 15, 2016

When I was thirteen or so, my family and I took a trip to Boston and we drove around Cape Cod all summer, exploring the picturesque coastal towns and soaking up the salty sea air. It was there that I fell in love with traditional Maine lobster rolls. It’s a sandwich filled to the brim with lobster meat, soaked in butter and served on a steamed hot dog bun. It’s a perfect, no fuss, classic sammich that is juuust a little bit fancy. Since that trip, I was hooked. My enthrallment wasn’t just chalked down to nostalgia – when done […]

May Musings

May 25, 2015

This may sound dramatic, but whenever I see shoes I absolutely LOVE, my heart skips a beat and I’m filled to the brim with yearning. The worst part is, just like love, when it comes to matters of the heart, it’s very unpredictable and knows no discrimination – I could fall in LOVE with a cheap as chips yet gorgeous pair of shoes ordered from OR an unattainable and deliciously impractical pair from Christian Louboutin. I just never know when the shoe cupid will strike me. (actually I DO! The little twerp always gets me when I’m at Level […]

Meet D3

April 16, 2015

Last weekend it was time for me to finally “Meet D3.” It’s not the name of some kinda R2D2-like robot, but the special pop up event held by Design Days District. It is specifically commissioned and curated to feature a 100 strong creative mix of UAE-based, regional and international designers, artists, musicians, concept retailers and unique dining experiences. Excitement about the mysterious occasion had been buzzing around for a while amongst the creative community but not many knew EXACTLY what to expect. Something arty? Something chic? Is it more of an urban, underground crowd or aimed at eccentric fashionistas? I […]

TOY brunch at China Grill

March 28, 2015

Now, I’ve blogged before about restaurants that are chilled out, relaxing and appropriate for families. Allow me to introduce to you a brunch that is on the other side of the spectrum. TOY brunch at China Grill is kind of a big deal. Currently in Miami and New York, it’s targeted for “adults who want to play.” It is indeed excitement all the way and it creates a phenomenon that I like to coin as “brunch jet lag.” This is because even on a lazy, uneventful Friday afternoon in Dubai, this place has got such an electric, cyber, cosplay-chic buzz, […]

Wings, Rings and Delicious Things

January 23, 2015

Ever had one of those days where you don’t fancy getting dressed to the absolute nines? In fact, let’s be honest, the truth is sometimes you yearn to shed that uncomfortably tight Herve Leger bandage dress for some slouchy boyfriend jeans, kind of like a butterfly from a restrictive cocoon. How about ditching that pretentious salad fork and those meagre canape portions for some simple, good old-fashioned, finger lickin’ grub that puts a smile on your face whilst keeping your stomach full and satisfied? You feel me? Well, I’ve got JUST the place for you! Original Wings and Rings in […]
