I can’t explain the adrenaline of working on something really BIG!
Bloomingdales, the famous department store from New York is synonymous with luxury – everything from their cakes to their sophisticated shoe department. They have a fabulous creative team here in Dubai and are one of my favorite clients. We wanted to work together on a number of artistic projects so here is a play by play of what I’ve been up to!
I illustrated my first “little brown bag” sometime in 2015, after my promotional book for Ramadan. They wanted a fashionable and colorful bag depicting the Dubai store front.
The style they asked for was cute and fun with attractive pastel shades which would appeal to all ages. Here’s how it turned out.
This bag was a little “taster” to see how it would be received. It went really well and so we made some brand new designs! This time for a regional touch, I drew a woman in an abaya enjoying a coffee and cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery. I also created one for Kuwait which will be in stores soon. These bags come in an assortment of different sizes and shapes. I love the cosmetic one! The best part is that they have even printed out cute little notebooks in two sizes. I really need to get one for myself.
Here’s my shelf at the Home store …
After that, we worked together on some exciting ideas for Christmas. Bloomingdales Kuwait is due to open up early next year, so they wanted to present something unique to Kuwaiti fashion bloggers and influencers so I worked on a special illustrated calendar. Each month had an illustration of each department in Bloomingdales Kuwait. It also featured a teaser illustration of the restaurant and their beautiful shoe and bag departments – a perfect functional yet artistic item to get them excited about the upcoming opening. Here’s some close up shots of the illustrations
For an artistic touch, Bloomingdales Dubai printed out the illustrations on tags and decorated beautiful gold trees and presented them to the influencers. A creative Christmas promotion.
They’ve now started selling the bags in the merchandise store as well as Magnolia. I really love the cute bears propped up on the shelves. All in all, beary lovely projects!!!!
